The
health worker is no less important than the policeman on the battlefield who
maintains homeland security, he is the person who provides care and services to
patients, either as a doctor, assistant, technician, regular worker, cleaner,
or security guard in this system or laboratory. There are approximately 61
million health care workers worldwide. And being the most valuable resource in
the global community, the World Health Organization has established a system
(Human Resources for Health) in appreciation of them and their wonderful positions.
It
appears to some, but the majority in the world, that health workers are less
susceptible to disease or the virus, being a health system immune to diseases.
This belief or concept is not correct. They are more susceptible to disease and
often pay the price of their lives for that.
The
health care that these people do for others provide the patient with the
security of him first, as it is his currency and his goal, and sometimes he
turns to protect himself and we call this not negligence. Also, he is exposed
to many biological infections, including viruses, radiation, and muscle and
mental strain.
The
health worker needs more care than his family, he is the unknown soldier in the
battle of life. In several reports, more than two and a half million people
were diagnosed with percutaneous infections among health workers and other
immunodeficiency and hepatitis C, and many of them die for this service.
Another
example of serious occupational risk is tuberculosis among healthcare
professionals. In the pre-antibiotic period, there were a number of health
professionals who fell prey to the disease, but with the advent of antibiotics,
these numbers decreased dramatically. However, we now find a resurgence in the
number of TB cases and diseases, especially among technicians, pathologists and
doctors. The reasons for this vary from high exposure to the nurse in the
workplace to weak infection control measures that are implemented in hospitals
and laboratories.

likely to develop non-communicable diseases such as diabetes and high blood
pressure, as well as cardiovascular diseases.
